Sustainable Bolivia is looking for volunteers & interns

Who we are:

Sustainable Bolivia 501 (c)(3) is a non-profit community previously located in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Currently, Sustainable Bolivia is located in Riberalta, the capital of the Bolivian Amazon and partners with local NGO's as well as local government authorities.
The majority of the opportunities we offer on Idealist are part of our volunteer/internship program. For more information, visit our website.

Our mission:

To promote economic and environmental sustainability through international collaboration with local Bolivian initiatives while providing international students and professionals access to global educational opportunities and practical work experience.

Opportunities:

Volunteer and internship opportunities

All of our volunteer placements match individual skills and interests to local needs to assure the most rewarding experience. Our volunteers and interns contribute to a range of projects spanning from education, health, environmental conservation, ecological construction, cultural and biological conservation, women’s empowerment, and much more.

Language school:

Our Spanish classes provide high quality instruction for students of all levels and ages. The school is independent from our volunteer/internship program but a lot of our volunteers/interns decide to take classes in order to improve their Spanish level and be more efficient in their organizations. All the profits from our lessons are reinvested to help support the work of our organization. Our philosophy facilitates a positive studying environment while allowing us to employ the most qualified teachers in Riberalta.

Mini grant program

Sustainable Bolivia is committed to investment in projects that will create long term impact. The mini grant system is a key component to supporting this objective. SB has a monthly fund that volunteers can apply for, where we’ve allocated up to $500 in funding for the best projects submitted each month. Each volunteer has the opportunity to apply for a grant between $1 and $500 for their organization. In order to get the grant the volunteer/intern, along with his/her partner organization, has to write a project explaining the needs/problems they have and what can be done about it.

Scholarships

In addition to helping international students and professionals obtain educational experiences, SB provides assistance to qualified students from Bolivia who wish to pursue higher education studies.
