Sensitive Action Tanzania NGO is looking for volunteers!

🇹🇿 Are you interested in volunteering in Africa?
Do you love children? Then look no more!

Sensitive Action Tanzania is an NGO located in the village of Igoma, Tanzania and is looking for new volunteers!
Our NGO runs a small orphanage and is currently taking care of 25 kids.
Our founder, Japhet John, started this orphanage back in 2013 when he decided to take care of 7 kids who became orphans after their parents (Japhet’s friends) had died of HIV. Since then, Japhet has saved more than two dozens other orphaned kids in his area.

Nowadays, this NGO is run by Japhet and three young people from the Czech Republic who learnt about Japhet’s extraordinary story and decided to help.

Our aim is to expand our NGO once we have necessary funds so we can help more orphaned children in this area.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals with a good heart.
We believe that you don’t need to have any special skills to help our children.

They love to play, learn, dance & explore.
So whatever you can do to help will be much appreciated. We do expect volunteers to help our kids with some basic Math and English though.

However, you don’t need any previous teaching experience for that. There is no age or nationality restriction so we’d love to welcome anyone who’d like to help and become part of our growing Family!

What can you expect?

You can expect to have the time of your life here in Tanzania!

Our kids are absolutely wonderful.
You will definitely enjoy your time with them and the feeling of helping orphaned kids is just priceless! You will definitely have enough free time to explore the area, spend a day at Lake Victoria or even join one of the fun safari tours!

Our location

Our orphanage is located in the village of Igoma, about half an hour from Mwanza, the second largest city of Tanzania. This area is known for unusual rock formations and Lake Victoria.

Amazing safari tours can also be arranged from Mwanza if volunteers are interested.

There is no program fee as we strongly believe that volunteers should not pay to be able to help.

However, as we are a small NGO with no financial support from any government or foreign donors, we ask volunteers for just $3 dollars per day to cover the cost of accommodation and Food.

At the moment, the only income for the orphanage is from the harvest from Japhet’s farm, therefore it is necessary that volunteers cover at least the cost of their food and accommodation.

There is no minimal duration, although the longer you can stay and volunteer, the better.

If you’re interested to find out more about this wonderful volunteering experience, please feel free to contact us in direct messages or send us an email at:

If you’d like to hear about the experience of our previous volunteers you can contact Aneta at;

Our children are looking forward to welcoming you in Tanzania!

  1. Hi there, yes I am interested. What do I need to know? I have never been to an African country and feel that perhaps I need to give back. Do you think I would be able to get more information and be able to find out how to get there from Italy. I am Australian with a dual citizenship so would be travelling from Italy. I look forward to hearing from you.
