They are the ethical base of our Cooperativa de Usuรกrios do Freixo do Meio, Crl.

We have 4 openings to volunteers or internship (curricular) during this winter season. These are placement each on

  • library;
  • animal production sector;
  • vegetables production sector;
  • food processing sector.

Come to see our agroecological practices and learn how we grow sustainable and healthy food in one of the biggest organic farms in Portugal!

We provide meals and accommodation.

Information about the place

Situated in Alentejo, Herdade do Freixo do Meio is inspired by montado and agroecology, started to produce food in a way more adapted to the natural local conditions and more efficient in terms of environmental costs.

Attentive to the social reality, it is, nowadays, a cooperative with more than three dozen employees, most of them from the village of Foros de Vale de Figueira, Montemor-o-Novo, and some young graduates who today are also part of the local population.

The farm has its own vegetable and animal production, transformation and distribution. It has 7 micro-factories that produces more than 200 certificated organic products.

Flight to Portugal, our organic farm is one hour from Lisbon (Foros de Vale Figueira, Montemor-o-Novo) by car or bus
