What we need

help refugees, northern greece, refugees, volunteer opportunities with refugees, mitA volunteer advocacy officer who will develop and roll out an advocacy strategy for Mobile Info Team. This role will see you identify the main needs where we should advocate on behalf of refugees and asylum-seekers in Greece. You will be required to document complaints, understand trends arising and find strategies where we can be effective at making a difference. What is more, you will also assist in expanding our current advocacy work around illegal push-backs of asylum-seekers across the Greek-Turkish border.

An ideal candidate would have prior advocacy experience in the refugee sector. You need to be able to collect data, find effective advocacy strategies and be able to produce content that we can circulate to different levels of actors.

Commitment

Strong preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit to longer.

Long-Term Caseworker (6-month min) Needed in Northern Greece Starting June 2019

Mobile Info Team is determined to work towards a future where asylum seekers and refugees in Greece have fair access to asylum and are treated with the respect their humanity deserves.

What we need

A long-term caseworker who has graduated from a degree in Law who can commit to working for a period of at least 6 months. Preference will be given to people who can demonstrate prior experience in asylum law or who have worked in the refugee sector. Knowledge of the Greek refugee context is not required but would be very beneficial.

Benefit

A challenging and fulfilling work experience with beneficiaries and other actors involved in the refugee crisis in Northern Greece. You will gain in-depth knowledge of asylum procedures in Greece and family reunification processes. As a long-term volunteer, you will be heavily involved in all aspects of our casework, have your own caseload and over time gain a higher level of responsibility. To facilitate your time here, we are able to offer shared accommodation, basic food and after a 3 month period a stipend of 150 Euros per month.

Coordinator with fundraising experience needed in Thessaloniki, Greece (Previous request March 2019):

The Mobile Info Team is a group of independent volunteers providing information to asylum seekers, migrants and refugees in Northern Greece.

We are looking for a new caseworker who is currently studying or has graduated from a degree in Law, International Relations or Political Science to start in March 2019.

Prior asylum counselling experience/knowledge is desirable.

Due to the complexity of our work, we only take caseworkers who can commit to a minimum of 3 months, after which they will achieve a sound knowledge of the asylum situation in Greece.

We offer in-depth one-to-one training at the start of the volunteer placement.

Lawyers with experience in asylum law who can commit to a shorter amount of time are also welcome to apply.

We provide accommodation and basic food.

We are based in Thessaloniki.

MIT is a group of independent volunteers providing information to refugees and helping families and individual asylum seekers with their asylum procedures.

We are looking for a long-term (minimum 3 months) Coordinator with experience in management of a team and experience/knowledge of fundraising, human resources, administration, accountancy.

What we offer

The Coordinator would be provided with housing, food and if she/he can stay more than 3 months also with a modest stipend with bonuses connected to fundraising results.
