What to do in the free time
There are many hills/mountains in the area which can be explored in the free time. Famous Afghan National Park Band-e-Amir is located 4 h drive from Lal. The famous site of former massive Buddha statues – Bamiyan is located 5 h drive from Lal.
Lal is located at the end of Hindu Kush Mountain range, so the altitude is still high – around 2800 meters above the sea level. The trees are limited. There are some rivers and grasslands around. The climate is dry. Very hot in summer and very cold in winter.
How to get to your site
The best option for a volunteer who doesn’t speak Persian is to take a flight from Kabul to Bamiyan (run by Kam Air). We will pick you up from Bamiyan and drive back to Lal.
Is there internet access?
“Paying guests” Option. Could you accommodate “solidarity” tourists?
Maybe. This needs to be discussed via e-mail
