Volunteer at Kakayando organic farm in Kenya โ€“ My name is Felix Akicho, I’m the younger son in our family of two brothers and four sisters. We live in the western part of Kenya. I’m a community permaculture leader and my mission is to bring permaculture fully to my community since we are a group of small farmers facing changing weather patterns and relative isolation. I started farming in the year 2014 and I have joined permaculture training that was hosted in our county.

Trasformative learning

The focus of our small community is “transformative learning” we like to work, learn and live together with our volunteers engaging in daily, weekly and monthly reviews about our learnings and transformation to a more sustainable community and as an example for others. Now, I would love to welcome our volunteers to come to join Kakayando organic farm so we to learn about permaculture and organic farm as well as our cultural activities.

We are looking for volunteers to help in farm work, as we learn together about Permaculture and Organic farming since we are a group of small farmers facing changing weather patterns and relative isolation. We therefore welcoming volunteers to join Kakayando organic farm.

More than two

When would you need volunteers?
  • All year long
How many hours of help per day?
  • 4-5 hours of help per day
How many days of help per week?
  • 4 days of help per week – 3 days off
Note about the volunteer work and other expectations

Volunteers will help us on the farm in the morning and in the evening we will learn together with our cultural practices such as traditional dance.

Are accommodation and food included?

Yes, we offer food and accommodation

What type of accommodation can you provide?
  • Private Room
  • Private room for a couple
Diet – nutrition information

We offer different diets. We can accommodate vegetarian and vegans too, as we try to offer organic food always.

Fees transparency

No charge fees we offer free accommodation rooms and food.

VISA – could you provide Visa support/info/invitation letters?

Maybe. We can help with an invitation letter if the candidate has good qualifications.

Cultural exchange, free tours, Permaculture courses as we try to teach about permaculture all the time.

What to do in the free time

In the free time, we could play soccer or sing or walking around the village to experience how our village looks like and interact with other people.

We have nice cool weather in the morning and evening.

How to get to your site

From Kisumu National Airport the volunteer should take a bus to Homabay county after reaching Homabay, I will meet him or her in the bus station and take him or her to our site by motorcycle. See the Contact Details section below to get our mobile phone numbers and WhatsApp numbers.
