ESC opportunity in Hungary – We are looking for young volunteers for our long-term ESC project. If you are proactive, good with children, and open to different cultures and people from disadvantaged backgrounds, you might be our perfect candidate.🤩✌
The project is based in Roma settlements in two Hungarian towns, Bag and Dány, where we organize after-school activities for local children and youngsters. Volunteers will actively participate in the lives of local communities, hold English-speaking group activities together with our experienced volunteers, and join the most awaited summer camps.🤸

What’s the mission of your community? 🎯
Bagázs is a public benefit association that has been working since 2011 to contribute to an inclusive and accepting society. Our organization does not give donations, but we offer the opportunity to Roma people to achieve their goals.
The primary aim of our programs is the deliberate development and empowerment of the local community through our presence in the settlements. Based on a holistic approach to our professional work we support entire families with separate programs for children and for adults.
Our activities can be grouped into the following categories: children’s programs, legal clinic and debt management, adult education, women’s group, mentoring and family consultations.

Note about the volunteer work and other expectations 📝
- Aged between 21 and 30, residents of the EU countries or non-EU citizens.
- Have at least an intermediate level of English knowledge.
- Interested in gaining experience in non-formal education and in working with young people.
- Have their own motivation and strong reasons to participate in the project. Open to cultural differences.
- Team player, but able to be independent. Energetic, cheerful, proactive

What are the available activities during free time? 🚴🚣🦒
Budapest has various options for activities. It is a vibrant city that volunteers may enjoy.
- Spring: regular rainy days, with an average temperature of 10-12 °C
- Summer: generally warm, low overall humidity. Average temperature: 21 °C (often above 30 °C)
- Autumn: rainy, 10-12 °C on average
- Winter: cold and wet, sometimes snows. 2-4 °C on average.
How to get to your site ✈ 🗺
It depends on where the volunteers are coming from. Generally by plane and The travel costs to Hungary and back to their home country will be refunded based on the distance band limits imposed by the European Commission, up to 275 Euros.
The hosting organization will pay local transport. The volunteers will receive monthly passes.
