A unique retreat in the heart of Greece
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend your time this September, why not consider volunteering at Paleochori Camp in the stunning Lefkada Ionian Islands, Greece? This remarkable retreat is seeking volunteers to join their community for an experience that combines artistic exploration, nature, and cultural exchange.
Why volunteer at Paleochori?
Paleochori is a campsite and a sanctuary for artists, nature lovers, and those seeking a deeper connection with the world around them. Founded by Kyveli Kouvatsi and Giorgos Sioras Deligiannis, it was born out of a desire to reconnect with nature and foster a community of like-minded individuals. The camp is set amidst a picturesque landscape, and offer volunteers the chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of Greece while contributing to a unique and creative environment.
What does volunteering involve?
As a volunteer at Paleochori, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute in various ways, from cooking and gardening to upgrading and fixing the camp’s facilities. The camp offers accommodation in cozy bell tents or simple camping setups, complete with all the essentials like mattresses, pillows, and linens. You’ll be well taken care of with three vegetarian meals a day, made with delicious Greek recipes, ensuring you have the energy needed for your tasks and adventures.
A blend of work and leisure
Volunteers at Paleochori are expected to work 4-5 days a week, with split shifts totaling 4.5 to 5.5 hours per day. The work is balanced with plenty of leisure activities, including hiking trips to local waterfalls, nearby villages, and the beach. Additionally, youโll be invited to participate in the camp’s artistic residency programs, which include somatic movement and dance practices on their open-air platform, offering a rare chance to engage with a global community of artists.
Who should apply?
Paleochori is looking for enthusiastic individuals who have some experience in cooking and enjoy the outdoors. A love for camping is essential, and if you have a driver’s license, thatโs an added bonus! The camp is especially interested in volunteers who can stay for at least a month, between late June and September, making it ideal for those looking to spend an extended period in Greece.
