Disabled volunteers – Volunteering as a tool for inclusion.
Updated Sep. 2011 – We are trying to create a list of organizations and volunteer projects that would be able to accommodate the needs of volunteers with disabilities. We believe there’s a lot that people with disabilities can do in terms of changing the world and improve the local communities.
Volunteering opportunities for disabled people.
The activities proposed within this page are voluntary projects oriented towards the social inclusion of people with physical and psychological disabilities. Volunteers with disabilities, a far from obvious role reversal in which disabled people become subjects rather than recipients of help and attention.
How to use this page.
Click on the announcement you are interested in. Check the date of the publication (some volunteer projects might not be available anymore). If the announcement is still valid, look for the ‘contact details‘ section (not the comment/reference section). In the C.D. section, you can find free ways to get in touch with the hosts (website, e-mail, phone numbers, application form). Send the host/organization a message and wait for a reply.
Most of these opportunities are free (you receive free food and accommodation in exchange for voluntary work). A few opportunities may require a daily/monthly contribution fee. Please read the description carefully before contacting the organizations/hosts.
If you don’t want to leave home without travel insurance, we’re happy to recommend this one.
