Travel in the Himalaya
Around the Himalayas, which encompass the highest and most spectacular mountains on Earth, there are countries of breathtaking beauty, inhabited by populations whose spirituality has no equal.
Nepal, Tibet, Ladakh and Bhutan, offer itineraries off the beaten track that allow you to get to know the culture and the ancient traditions of these mysterious areas.
You can trek to the “roofs of the world” through unknown and wild valleys, at the foot of mountains up to 8000 metres high. Through volunteering, you can experience a different and exciting way to get in touch with the people who have lived here for thousands of years. Still tenaciously preserving their customs and cultivating the most authentic and profound Buddhism.
Some things you can do in the Himalayas
- Visiting monasteries and temples,
- attending religious festivals,
- listening to the prayers of monks wrapped in clouds of incense,
They are all extraordinary and unforgettable experiences. The cities are also full of charm: from Kathmandu, a Unesco heritage site, to Lhasa with its Potala, residence of the Dalai Lama. From Leh, the capital of Ladakh, to Thimphu with its monasteries and dzongs. In the cities as well as in the smaller towns and villages, Buddhism permeates everything and identifies each person. Because here Buddhism is not just a religion, but a philosophy of life. And this is the most exciting aspect of a trip to the Himalayan region.
