Kitesurfing in recent years has managed to thrill thousands of people. Taking advantage of the forces of nature, this discipline gives sportsmen unique sensations such as the thrill and adrenaline of being between the sky and the sea. To start practicing it, it is important to attend a course at a school with qualified instructors and that allows learners to learn and practice it in total safety, as kite surfing is still a potentially risky discipline that requires knowledge of weather factors, characteristics wing flight, security systems, main navigation rules and standards.
What is Kite Surfing
Kitesurfing is a natural variant of surfing, to which a wing has been added which -connected with lines about 25 meters high and exploiting the force of the wind- generates considerable traction. Kitesurfing in the world is also called kiteboard or (in France) fly surfing.
Kite surfing over time has been divided into many disciplines such as Freestyle where evolutions are made; Wave where you surf surfing the waves; Long Distance where a real sailing style regatta takes place; Speed โโwhere we try to break the speed world record, which is currently around 48 knots.
The kitesurf is composed of the wing, also called “sail” or “kite”, with standard dimensions ranging from 14 to 8 square meters in size. The choice of a large or small wing depends on the wind speed: the large wings are suitable for winds of lower intensity, the small wings are used when the wind is more sustained.
Kite surfing is an easy-to-learn sport, with very few lessons you can immediately manoeuvre the sail and glide on the surface of the water. It requires absolutely no physical force as kinetic force is used very much. However, with particular weather conditions or in the presence of rough seas and strong winds, physical prowess, training and above all experience is essential in order not to incur risks both for one’s own safety and that of others.
