long-term ESC project, Romania, 2023

“Attention all young people!”

The Timis County Youth Foundation (FITT), in partnership with international and national volunteers and the local community, has transformed several industrial buildings into youth centres in Timisoara (the European Capital of Culture 2023) and one youth centre in Lugoj (a nearby town).

These centres provide a space for young people to express themselves and develop their skills.

As part of a long-term European Solidarity Corps project focused on social inclusion, human rights, and solidarity, FITT is seeking volunteers to join their team until August 2023 to organize activities for young people and contribute to the youth and cultural programs in Timisoara, Romania.

The ideal candidates for this volunteer opportunity are individuals who are between 18-30 years old, fluent in English, living in an EU country, excited to develop new skills, and brave enough to live in Romania for a few months.

Accommodation, food, pocket money and travel expenses will be covered according to the European Solidarity Corps’ established amounts.

Project goals

The project aims to develop new skills and grow as individuals, as well as make a difference in the European Capital of Culture 2023 by promoting social inclusion and human rights through youth and cultural programs.

What is the European Solidarity Corps?

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a program launched by the European Union in December 2016. It aims to provide opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects that benefit communities and individuals within the EU. The program is open to EU citizens and residents aged 18-30 and aims to promote solidarity, social inclusion, and active citizenship among young people. It has different forms of engagement such as volunteering, traineeships and jobs. The program is managed by the European Commission.
