ESC program in Hungary 2022 eco-community experience โ€“ There are volunteer positions still available at 2 ecovillages (Nyimi ร–ko Kรถzรถssรฉg and Hideg-hegyi Menedรฉk) where you can experience it all! Apply NOW and spread the word!

Updated April 2022: We are still searching for volunteers (18-30 years old, 2 foreigners, 2 Hungarians), from 1st May to 31st October (6 months long), in our eco-farm and community (Pecsely, Hungary – close to lake Balaton in the mountains). We do permaculture farming and construction which we need support so it is a great possibility to pick up new skills and get experience in ecological solutions.ย 

Activity period
  • May-October 2022 (6 months)
Examples of activities
  • outdoor tasks (gardening, taking care of animals, etc)
  • planning local community and volunteer initiatives
  • participating in the eco-architecture projects, especially creating the “Hideg-hegy” shelter, a community space for learning, healing, culture and workshops – and a yurt!
  • cooperating in the daily tasks of the community members – tasks that are part of living in such an environment (e.g.: experiencing everyday tasks living in a yurt or building one)
  • cooking on events, and joint cooking every day
  • harvesting and conserving products of the garden
  • creating posters, photos and different visuals, creating input and maintaining social media platforms
  • working in the (planting and nurturing plants, mostly according to permaculture principles)
  • planning local community and volunteer initiatives
  • participating in the eco-building and cob renovation projects
  • cooking on events, and joint cooking every day
  • realising ecological art projects
  • taking care of the Community House
  • organising English Club for locals
  • creating posters, photos and different visuals, creating input and maintaining social media platforms
  • trying out community-building games and methods

You will be volunteering 30 hours per week, sometimes weekends are included. Hungarian language support is provided.

Accommodation in

Participant profile

We are welcoming volunteers aged 18-30 who would like to be part of a growing community of young, committed green professionals in an amazing natural environment, who enjoy working in a garden, with trees and with animals, who want to learn how to organise a big eco-festival and who don’t mind if the circumstances are sometimes a bit rough.

Also, volunteers who:
  • commit themselves to act upon sustainability issues on both individual and community level,
  • are interested in collecting and practising technological and lifestyle knowledge and practice that reflects to the economic, social, environmental and health crisis of our age,
  • enjoy living in a small rural community and are not afraid of getting their hands dirty!
