Join the biggest Sports Event of 2023 in Berlin!

The Special Olympics World Games is the largest inclusive sporting event in the world. Thousands of Athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together in 26 sports. Nine days of exciting and inspiring competition by Athletes and for Athletes. From June 17 to 25, 2023, the Special Olympics World Games will take place in Berlin, the first time Germany will host the World Games!

It will be a colourful international sports festival, with the goal of spreading an inclusive and welcoming philosophy across the planet.

Special Olympics World Games – requirements & conditions

The Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 is seeking volunteers to help with the event, which will see around 7,000 athletes from over 190 countries competing in 26 sports. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old by June 1, 2023 and be available for at least five shifts during the event. Shifts will be between 6 and 8 hours. There are various roles available in areas such as accommodation, marketing and communications, sports, and transport. and volunteers can select up to 3 preferred areas on the application form.

The event is open to anyone over the age of 16 and fluent in English or German.


Volunteers will receive free entry to the opening and closing ceremonies and all competitions, meals and beverages, and a volunteer certificate.ย Benefits of volunteering include:

To apply, fill out the online application form in English or German by January 31, 2023.

Interested individuals can apply through the application form on the event’s website until January 31st, 2023.


If you want to volunteer with your classmates, friends, or sports club members, you can apply as a volunteer group. More information about this can be found on the official website. If your group has less than 10 people, you can list everyone’s names in the regular application form. For groups of more than 10 people, please email at volunteers@berlin2023.org for more information.
