Immediate live-in volunteer position available for horse lovers who want to join our Tenerife Horse rescue center.

Tenerife Horse rescue center update – February 2024 – Looking for people who want to experience something new, join our community, and give back to the world.  We are a fully registered, NGO non-government-funded charity founded in 2018 based in Tenerife, Canary Islands. Our aim is to offer homes to all equines who need a second chance. Horses are our main focus, but we didn’t stop here. Our animal sanctuary has a huge array of abandoned animals, all rescued from the island. For example, dogs and cats, birds, ducks, guinea pigs, goats, pigs, tortoises, hamsters, and more.
We have 40 people living and working together to make the world a better place. Over half of these people have a “1-way ticket” and stay with us for long periods of time.
After some sudden changes we have lost 3 members of our horse team all at once (1 broken bone, 1 interview and 1 new job )

So we are looking for more people with horse experience to join the family as soon as possible.

• Minimum stay 3 months. No maximum
• Must have experience with horses and a great working ethic, team spirit, and passion for them.
• Duties include training horses, cleaning feet, in hand walking sick horses, picking up poop etc. Must be confident with all horses.
• Food, accommodation, and WiFi included.
• 25 hours per week
• We cannot provide help with flight/visa costs.
  

This is an amazing opportunity available for the right experienced horse person. The role is a live-in volunteer position with an immediate start, specifically seeking individuals experienced in working with horses in various climates and challenging situations.

The ideal candidate must be open-minded and interested in force-free positive horsemanship, and they should have a genuine passion for horses. The responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, training, medical treatment, ground work, walking, and occasionally riding. The position offers accommodation, food, and the chance to live in a community centred around rustic, sustainable living. Located in a tranquil, non-touristy area of Tenerife, the property is a short 15-minute walk from the beach.

We are a hard-working group, “organised chaos” we call it.

Teams of people working with animals/ building/ office/ garden etc.

We are always looking for like-minded people to change their lives and join our team and help us grow the sanctuary (we just bought some more land).

Right now we have space for general helpers with animal care/ sorting animal food donations/ making compost/ No experience is needed, just passion and a hard-working team ethic. We also have a last-minute space for someone to manage our Instagram account ( must know how to use Instagram and have a good phone for this position).

Builders are also always welcome 🙂

Minimum of 1-month stay but no maximum, some of our family have been here 3 years already!

We provide VERY rustic accommodation on our sustainable Finca. Beautiful area that has amazing weather and is close to the sea. Lovely location and many of our people have been here for up to 2 years already. But please note you will live on-site in a community, and the accommodation is far from glamorous. We don’t have modern luxuries, even our washing is done on a bicycle washing machine. But what we do have is lovely people, great food ( we eat all freegan ) and an amazing project.

You… MUST love animals and sustainability….. They are everywhere. This is a place for passion, good conversation, good food and creating something magical together. This is not a party place.
We provide the accommodation and all food ( not only the working days)
