Tag: Sustainable living
Almost everyone has heard of sustainable development but few really understand the meaning of this ‘fashionable’ term, widely used by governments, corporations, environmental and social organizations and even the media. Numerous definitions have been minted; of all, we have chosen this:
Sustainability is what meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy their own (UN World Commission on the Environment and Development, 1987).
The central theme for our present and future is indeed how to be able to live on this our planet with a number of human beings that has already exceeded 7,7 billion of people without destroying the natural systems from which we draw the resources to live, in a dignified and equitable manner for everyone, without exceeding their ability to support waste and waste due to our production activities.

Send the host/organization a message and wait for a reply.
Volunteering around the world… for independent travellers!
Some of these opportunities are completely free (you receive free food and accommodation in exchange for voluntary work – wwoof style). Others require a daily/monthly contribution fee for the food and the accommodation. Remember that many areas in the world are still developing and volunteering can’t always be a ‘free’ thing.
If you want to have an “impact” but you only have a few weeks to do volunteering abroad, then we recommend you to choose the paying opportunities: you will contribute not only with your skills but also with your money; this is usually better than paying for a “western hotel” or a touristic village owned by a foreign company.
Our website, Voluntouring, is not a touristic agency and is not taking any agency intermediation fees from the organizations listed below. For this reason, all of your money will go directly to support the NGO and your stay in Africa. This is also why you will find that the prices for the volunteering experiences are much lower than the ones offered in other professional agencies.
Down below you can find organizations and projects that are involved in the subject/topic of Sustainability
